Everybody wants focus and joy in everything they do. Think about it: whether you’re at the top of your game or down and out, from the second you wake up, until you fall asleep and even during your sleep, when you’re dreaming. Why? Because focus means clear vision and joy is the experience happiness!
Where focus goes, energy flows
As a creative in the world of television, I’ve literally spent tens of thousands of hours brainstorming, creating and recreating, writing en rewriting ideas and stories. Often under the pressure of crazy deadlines and expectations. What I’ve learned is that focus has the power to create and destroy instantly. A potentially brilliant idea can get killed by a single remark. An amazing story can emerge from a hopeless situation. It’s all about focus. Where focus goes, energy flows.
Focus
“To adjust one’s vision so as to render a clear, distinct image”.
“To concentrate attention or energy”.
The one universal characteristic in life is change. Everything in the universe is constantly changing. Gradually or rapidly, just a little or dramatically, but in order to maintain a clear, distinct image of what is going on, what it means (to you) and how to deal with it, you need to adjust your vision. Needless to say that when you’re able to adjust your vision swiftly, it’s likely you will deal better with change.
Joy
“A deep feeling or condition of happiness or contentment”
“Something causing such a feeling; a source of happiness”.
The one universal natural goal people all over the world strive for is happiness. Whatever it is we do, we do so as to gain pleasure and avoid pain. We want to feel content and happy. But what exactly gives us this deep feeling of happiness, contentment or joy? Is it money? Status? Certainty? Adventure? Love? Good health? All of the above? This brings us back to focus, doesn’t it?
