It’s amazing what a little space can do. For instance, going from ‘nowhere’ to ‘now here’ is just a matter of pressing the spacebar 1 time, yet a whole new reality arises as you go from ‘nowhere’ to ‘now here’. Let’s zoom in on that. ‘Nowhere’ is defined as: Not anywhere. To no place or result. As in: “This road leads to nowhere”, what sounds kind of negative? ‘Now here’ on the other hand can be defined as: At this moment, in this place. It’s not judging in any way, it simply states that at this moment, you are in this place. That’s much more positive since being in a place means you are somewhere, instead of nowhere. Also, nowhere seems externally orientated: you’re looking around finding yourself nowhere. Whereas ‘now here’ is more internally orientated: you turn to yourself as the starting point of everything with all options open. So in life, whenever you find yourself in a situation you’d rather not be in, see if you can find a spacebar. Press it and a new reality is created.

Worldwide there were many wonderful initiatives on 11.11.2011. In a way, it was a day like any other and yet many special things happened. I guess it was that many people were aware. Aware of each other, the world we live in and the need for openness, kindness and love. This short video is a part of that flow. It was shot and edited in Cape Town, South Africa in 11 hours on 11.11.2011. Wonderful images, with a powerful poem from Spanish poet Pedro Salinas (1891-1951). Enjoy.
Whether you want to be financially independent, lose weight, feel at peace with yourself or simply have a fresh cup of coffee; once you want something, it’s sometimes hard seeing that you don’t have it, yet. In life we set all kinds of goals, the perfect life is out there and we want it, rather sooner than later. And if possible: right now! I mean, life’s short, right? Yes, but… everything takes time. Great things, like making a million dollars and small things, like making it through another day at the office. It even takes time for the clock to tick. The question is: what’s your perception of time? Do you take your time to get to where you want to be or do you pressure yourself, thinking you should turn your dream into reality in an instant? Life may go fast, but that doesn’t mean you should go fast too. It can take up to 330 days before a caterpillar turns into a butterfly, you never see them being frustrated about time passing slowly. So relax: enjoy every minute of our journey, for the only time is now.
Yeah, what does make you happy? Such a simple question, right? Maybe even so simple, that it’s easily forgotten? Until of course sometime later (or even years) when you realize you’re caught up in all kinds of things, not entirely sure anymore if that really makes you happy. And then you wonder: who am I, what does make me happy? And even when you know, the question is: do you succeed in giving that enough attention? Anyway, simply by being still for a moment, to listen to your own breathing and by asking yourself that question: “What makes me happy?” you will start to bring peace to your mind. And from this peace an answer will present itself to you. And if it doesn’t, don’t force yourself, just smile at it. You can make the question smaller: “What would make me happy today, this morning or this moment?” It may be a very simple thing, the point is: Where focus goes, energy flows. You’ll start to focus on what matters to you and on something positive. Your actions will follow that focus. And from that point on you can explore until you have a clear answer to what makes you happy in any situation, and dance your way through life accordingly. Alright, maybe not dance, but flounder – or somewhere in between. Either way, to give you an inspirational kick start, do yourself a favor and watch this film. It alone will make you happy, if only for a moment.
You’ll enjoy this video, especially when you are familiar with Eckhart Tolle’s book The Power of Now and like Jim Carrey. As it turns out, the famous Hollywood movie star is a friend of Tolle. In this video we see Carrey at the opening of the 2009 GATE Event, introducing his friend to the audience. But before doing so, he shares his own experience with what’s called ‘Awakening’ (in The Power of Now) and also he’s openly discussing his pursuit for meaning and purpose. Oh, and he’s funny too.
When we have fun our perception of time is shortened. We may even completely forget about time. And forgetting time let’s you live in the now, simply because history and future need time to exist.
